Rachel is an emerging artist based in Naarm/Melbourne, Australia, currently undertaking a Diploma of Visual Arts at The Northern College of Art and Technology.
While her practice is grounded in oil painting, Rachel has been excited and inspired recently with forays into sculpture and mobile sculpture. Her creative vision is shaped by a commitment to environmental stewardship, alongside deep concerns for the environment, social justice, and supporting her family.
Over the past 18 months, Rachel’s work has focused towards quiet, contemplative scenes, still life’s and landscapes that create space for pause and reflection in everyday life. These works are a response to a period of personal introspection.
Rachel draws on her love of collecting ceramics, glass, and objects that play with light and reflection, pairing emotional depth with tangible, physical form. Her vessels, both literal and metaphorical, explore ideas of containment and giving, offering a peaceful place within their stillness.
Her work reflects a desire for simplicity. A stripping back to quiet observations of the everyday, and embodies her search for calm, balance, and peace. |
